Hi all,

I have an AG with SQL Server 2016. After a failover my SSISDB synchronizes perfectly and I am able to deploy my IS Package. However, after the deploy the DB stops synchronizing and I have to run "ALTER DATABASE SSISDB SET HADR RESUME" for it to resync.

Has anyone experience something like this?

SQL client connectivity SDK is installed but not showing in the discovery report

I am installing the following five SQL Server 2016 features;
Client Tools Connectivity
Client Tools Backwards Compatibility
Client Tools SDK
Integration Services
SQL client connectivity SDK

After installing the above five features I am generating SqlDiscoveryReportto verify the installed features but on the report only the four following features are displayed;
Client Tools Connectivity
Client Tools Backwards Compatibility
Client Tools SDK
Integration Services

Not finding the SQL client connectivity SDK feature in the report whereas if I run the setup again and try to select the feature it is already installed.

Is this the normal behavior or any other way to get all the feature list in the report?

Sql Server installation on Linux fails in configuration

I've installed SQL Server on Linux, on RHEL 7.8.  Documentation says this is a supported version.  Running "mssql-conf setup" after installation  fails like this:

Configuring SQL Server...
/opt/mssql/bin/sqlservr: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.18' not found  (required by /opt/mssql/bin/../lib/libc++abi.so.1)
Initial setup of Microsoft SQL Server failed. Please consult the ERRORLOG in /var/opt/mssql/log for more information.

There is nothing in the error log.  From what I can tell, installing that glibc version isn't an option.

What's the solution to this?

About SQL Server - Server + CAL license _ Part 2

Hi, in below link Olaf has confirmed that if I have server license then i can have multiple sql server installations on the same server (means multiple sql engines). Suppose with 1 server license, on a vm/server, I install 2 sql servers (instance A & B) and users are user1, user2 and user3, common for both instances A & B. So do i need 6 CAL licenses or just 3 CAL licenses?

SQL Failover with OEM license

Hi.
I am trying to figure out how to Setup a 2 node active/passive failover with windows severstandard and SQL server standard. I want one node ready to take over if the other fails or is taken down for maintainance
I have found this:

  • SQL Server Standard 2017 allows high availability through the feature called AlwaysOn.
  • AlwaysOn allows customers to have an active / passive instances meaning that SQL Server can have a secondary (cold installation), to recover data from in case of a disaster or hardware failure on the primary server.
  • The licensing of AlwaysOn scenario requires a SQL Server license on the primary server and a Software Assurance coverage to be able to install a passive instance on the secondary server.
  • AlwaysOn feature on SQL Server Standard is limited to 2 nodes (active/passive instances)

    However It seems tthat software assurance is not avaible for OEM licensing? So am I out of look?

Hello,

We recently upgraded our SQL Server 2012 Business Intelligence Edition installation to SQL Server 2014 Business Intelligence Edition.

The following errors now occur in the SQL Server error log:

  • Unsafe assembly 'microsoft.sqlserver.integrationservices.server, version=12.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=89845dcd8080cc91, processorarchitecture=msil' loaded into appdomain 3 (SSISDB.dbo[runtime].1).
  • Unsafe assembly 'microsoft.ssdqs, version=11.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=89845dcd8080cc91, processorarchitecture=msil' loaded into appdomain 2 (DQS_MAIN.dbo[runtime].2).

Searching the web has yielded no results. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Lifecycle Management of SQL Server

$

I recently took a position as an Operations Manager of a database team focused on SQL Server.  We've got a large SQL presence (couple thousand servers) and I'm looking at setting standards for version usage and providing guidance to the business on planning for upgrades.  We've just kicked off a project begin migration away from SQL 2012.  That's better than starting next year but what are others doing in regards to lifecycle management?  Do you cutoff new installs for a version before mainstream support ends, on the day it ends or sometime during extended support?  When do you drop internal support for SQL versions and/or start your migration/upgrades to newer versions?

Looking forward to comments!
