Hi,
I have 11 SQL instances running on single virtual box and it is SQL 2014 standard edition SP1 CU5.
I am trying to apply SP2 on all 11 instances. But when I reach 'select features' tab, I am not able to select any single instance to proceed.
can you please help me why I am not able to select and how can I fix the issue?
Hope to hear soon.

I had a few general questions about SQL & SPNs:
Hi,
I'm attempting to add the full text search feature to one of our SQL environments.
Once the install has started it throws this error message twice. "No mapping between account names and security IDs was done". I get options to retry or cancel, cancel seems to just skip and continue the install.
The install seems to complete successfully once you cancel the error message.
I've checked the databases and we don't have any users or group assigned to roles that are not in the AD domain.
I'm stuck as to what else to look for....
Here is an extract from the error log:

Hello,
I am trying to install SQL Server 2014 Express with advanced services on a windows 7 sp1 machine. While running the installation file I downloaded from MSDN, I received a failure warning stating there is a DLL missing. I had a similar experience with SQL Ser2012 and was never able to install it.
Hi All,
I am trying to install SQL Server 2014 express edition on my Windows 7 64 Bit system, but unfortunately, everything I have tried so far has resulted in the same error.
Error: 1723 There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this installation to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I have tried all the possible solutions that I found online. So please refrain from posting a link to another blog or forum because chances are that I have already tried that.
Things that I have tried:
I am aware that there are multiple threads with the same issue, but none have been able to resolve this for me.
It is really urgent for me to resolve this and install the package over the weekend. Any help would be really appreciated.
Note: I am unable to add the links to the log files as of now, but would do so ASAP.
Hi,
based on my general knowledge of setting up SQL server on VM, I remember a best practice (or Right thing to do) about appropriate planning for number of processors. Especially, adding processors to production SQL set on VM.
I need a confirmation if it is really sensitive matter about adding processors to SQL server Virtual machines.
Don't think that hypervisor make any difference. But just in case, I am talking about VMWare platforme.
Please provide a link to a document describing the impact of adding processors or just simple explanation why it is not recommended or just MUST not be done.
Thanks.

I am having troubles setting up a mirrored pair while using TDE.
I am able to successfully setup mirroring on a non-encrypted database
I am able to successfully setup TDE on the primary node and restore the database and associated certificates on the secondary node, provided that the database is fully recovered on the secondary node.
But
I am not able to get mirroring to work while TDE is running. When I try to setup mirroring I get an error that says that it can't open the database on the secondary node to modify it. (Which makes sense because it is supposed to be restored with no recovery.)
Any help?

EXECUTE statement failed because its WITH RESULT SETS clause specified 1 result set(s), but the statement only sent 0 result set(s) at run time.
before the update, everything worked fine.
what can I do?
Hi,
fresh SQL 2012 installed. Planned to serve couple of applications.
Server was properly partitioned for the beginning of the project. Some questions may come later... For now I have few.
What info should be provided to Application supplier that will need to use SQL?
1. SQL server name. In what format?
2. User rights. The standard user account will be created for the App supplier.
What are the correct Rights that should be assigned to that user on SQL server if any...
The standard account will be added to local admin group on Application server.
How correctly manage his access to DB? Please provide step by step instructions or precise doc. I am not a DB admin.
And did SQL installations on APP servers directly.
I guess I have to create a DB on SQL server (for eliminating any access of supplier to SQL server) and then provide the right path (server name\DB name).
Please help.
Thanks.

Good morning everyone, just a quick question about upgrading multiple servers to Cumulative Update Package 7 for SQL Server 2012 SP3 - KB3205051. According to the Microsoft Update Catalog you can only use WSUS to upgrade up to CU5 RE:
http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=SQL%20Server%202012%20SP3
Does anyone know why CU6 and CU7 are not available? Windows Update won't get CU7 either; it seems that the only way to apply the update is to download it from Microsoft and install it manually?
I'm trying to find a way to add a sql sysadmin user when I install Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Express.
Currently I use the following command line syntax to install SQL Server...
SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe /QS /ACTION=Install /FEATURES=SQL
/INSTANCENAME=SQL2016EXPRESS /AGTSVCACCOUNT=sqlagent
/AGTSVCPASSWORD={PASSWORD} /AGTSVCSTARTUPTYPE=Automatic
/SQLSVCACCOUNT=sqldbengine /SQLSVCPASSWORD={PASSWORD}
/SECURITYMODE=SQL /SAPWD={PASSWORD} /ADDCURRENTUSERASSQLADMIN
/IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS /IACCEPTROPENLICENSETERMS
I was hoping there was some type of way to do this with a switch (such as /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS). Unfortunately from what I can tell the switch /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS only deals with Windows accounts and NOT SQL accounts.
Is there any way to accomplish my goal while I'm installing SQL Server?

In the past our Sql installs were done on physical hardware and we set the power option choice to "high performance". I presume that no longer applies to the case of a VM with Sql installed but does this power setting now apply to the HOST of that VM?
TIA,
