SQL Server 2005 Dev Integration Services Fail

$

I've got VS2005 v.8.0.50727.867 (vsvista.050727-8600) on my 64bit Windows 7 box.  I am trying to install SQL Server 2005 Integration Services on this Win7 box so I can load and edit the Win XP SSIS projects that I had on my XP box.  So far I've not been able to successfully install the Integration Services with a failed permission on the SQL**DTD.msi file.....I've copied this file locally and tried to run it and it would start but then would give permission error.

Is there an inherent incompatibility running SSIS projects in SQL Server 2005 on a 64bit Win 7 box?  Worked great on my XP box.

I've been "upgrading" the SSIS projects to VS2008 since I was able to get SSIS installed. Any ideas what I need to do to get this beast to work?

TIA

Harry

SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2012 SP1 upgrade error.

I'm trying to update my MS SQL 2008 SP3 instance to MS SQL 2012 SP1.  The setup had an error in the last part of the setup.  See error below.

This error is identical to another article, but the fix of setting implicit transactions to false didn't work.  In fact, it was already set to false when I checked.

Trying to find ways to work around this issue.  So far nothing.

Please Help!!

Thanks!!

Hi Guys,

Having an issue patching two of my SQL servers which are currently in an AlwaysOn, we use SCOM 2012 R2 to monitor it and it's installed on Server 2012, this is the current SQL version:

I get the error when trying to install any SQL updates, I have tried the following:

The installer gets to the end with error code: 997 when looking at the logs we get this:

Unable to install KB2977325

I am unable to install the new security updates for SQL Server 2012 SP1 (KB2977325) and SQL Server 2008 SP3 (KB2988321). When installing via Windows Update, both fail with code 84C4000B. Tried downloading the KB2977325 installer (SQLServer2012-KB2977325-x64.exe), it gets stuck at:

"Instance ...: Updating '...' (1 of 2): MsiTimingAction

Rebooting does not help.

Windows Update tried installing these since 8/17 on a daily basis, with no success.

Running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, 64 bit.

Is there a resolution to this? Thanks,

David.

Stumped - how do you install SQL Profiler?

Hi everyone

I've just installed SQL 2008 Express (I installed the express edition because I need support for user instances).

Now I want to install SQL Profiler. I understand it doesn't come with SQL Express, so I've got the DVD for SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition. The problem is that whether I choose "New SQL Installation" or "Add Features to Existing Installation", there's no option to install SQL Profiler. The only client tools that appear in the installation screen are:
- Business Intelligence Development Studio
- Management Tools - Basic
- SQL Client Connectivity SDK.

SQL Profiler's got to be in there somewhere... tearing my hair out!

Thanks

Joe

Getting this error "Exception Has been thrown by the target of an invocation" when trying to open sql server 2012 management studio.

But open sql server 2008 is okay.

By the way, yesterday when I opened Visual Studio 2013, I got an error. "A problem occurred when loading the Microsoft Visual Menu....", it asked me to reset VS environment via “devenv /resetsetting’’ command and try it again. However the command didn't work until I reboot my desktop.

Not sure any relation between them.

SQL Server 2000 64-bit: x64-bit edition vs IA64 Itanium processor ?

Hi Forum,

I do need SQL Server 2000 64-bit. So, I have used our premium MSDN subscription, and I have downloaded:

SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition - 64-bit (English)

SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition - 64-bit (English)

However, Our DBA specialist informed me that both packages are for the IA64 Itanium processor, and what we really need is for thex64-bit edition.

Could you please help me out ?

2012 Developer Edition?

I was going to download Sql Server 2012 Developer Edition, but it seems to have disappeared. I realize that 2014 is now available, but I would be developing and testing for 2012 or 2008 Database instances. I am also on a Windows 7 machine. Should I be using the 2014 version or is the 2012 version still out there somewhere?

Thanks

SQL 2012 cluster installation fails with an IP address error

$

I am building an eight node cluster and have successfully installed two SQL instances on it. Now, I cannot install any additional instances because of the following error:

The resource with identifier 'Type='IP Address' NetworkName='Cluster Network 1' Group='SQL Server (WEBAPPS)' Resource='SQL IP Address 1 (ACHSQLWebapps)'' could not be found on the cluster. Please check if it exists.

I can verify that the installation builds the SQL Name and then adds the IP address. After the IP address comes online, the installation stops and that error pops up.  It results in a failed install that must be removed by the "Remove Node" wizard.

A search on the web comes up empty. Any ideas?

SQL Server 2008 R2 cluster on Windows Server 2012 Cluster failed to failover

Hi Gurus,

I'm trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 sp 1 on Windows Server 2012 Cluster. It seems there is no problem when installing, the SQL Server 2008 R2 cluster is successfully installed. But when i'm trying to test failover to another node the service won't starting up.

Cluster event show me this error messages with event id 1069

Cluster resource 'SQL Server (instancename)' of type 'SQL Server' in clustered role 'SQL Server (instancename)' failed.

Based on the failure policies for the resource and role, the cluster service may try to bring the resource online on this node or move the group to another node of the cluster and then restart it.  Check the resource and group state using Failover Cluster Manager or the Get-ClusterResource Windows PowerShell cmdlet.

And event id 1205

The Cluster service failed to bring clustered service or application 'SQL Server (instancename)' completely online or offline. One or more resources may be in a failed state. This may impact the availability of the clustered service or application.

I did check all the resource that is needed to power up SQL Service and SQL Agent, all resource is already online.

But when i start SQL Service Manually the service can be powered up, but the agent cannot. I don't know what make it happened because it is not happen when we move to primary node.

Please advice. Thank you very much.

regards,

Maliq

I am getting below error when I try to restore from a backup file. It seems backup is taken using 12.00.2000 version and my target DB is 11.00.3401 of SQL Server 2012.

Since my server changed, it got it auto upgraded, now my other servers are having older version of sql server

Please help to get my 11.00.3401 upgraded to 12.00.2000. From where I can get the upgrade setup?

Error:

Apologies if this has been asked many times before, I couldn't find anything on the forum.

We are fully licensed to run SQL 2008 R2 SP2 but we are looking to upgrade to SQL 2012 SP1.  Do we need to purchase a new license for this or are we covered for a 'free' upgrade?

Thanks

How to uninstall/remove security update for SQL Server 2012

$

My requirement is to uninstall/remove security update for SQLServer 2012 Service Pack 1 only. so are these below steps are correct or do I need to take any extra precaution for uninstallation?

Go to Control panelàProgramsà Programs and FeaturesàInstalled Updrtes, right click on update and uninstall

As per my knowledge in SQL Server 2005, we cannot uninstall a service pack. we have to uninstall SQL Server 2005 completely, and reinstall SQL Server 2005 with previous service packs and updates. but Starting SQL Server 2008, we can uninstall a service pack using Control Panel.

Hi,

Currently we are using SQL 2000 std. edition in the environment, which is not geniun. Before 2 years we purchase SQL 2008R2 Ent. Edition (Volume License). My existing database structure will not support SQL 2008R2. So we need to continue SQL 2000.

We want to use geniun product so Kindly suggest from were I will get SQL 2000 std geniun key & ISO for further use.

Thanks.
